What These Benchmarks Actually Tell You

A few things to keep in mind before you panic (or celebrate):

ACOS without context is meaningless. A 35% ACOS on a product with 70% gross margin is wildly profitable. A 15% ACOS on a product with 20% margin is barely breaking even. Always evaluate ACOS against your unit economics.

TACOS matters more than ACOS. Total Advertising Cost of Sale — your ad spend divided by total revenue (not just ad-attributed revenue) — gives you a clearer picture of advertising efficiency. Strong brands we manage run TACOS between 8-15%.

CPC trends are up across the board. Average CPCs have increased 12-18% year-over-year depending on category. More advertisers, more competition, higher costs. The brands winning in 2026 are the ones offsetting CPC inflation with better conversion rates through superior listings and creative.

How to Use These Amazon Advertising Benchmarks

Don't chase someone else's numbers. Use these benchmarks to identify where you're significantly over or under-indexing, then investigate why. A CPC well above your category average might mean you're targeting overly competitive keywords. An ACOS well below average might mean you're not spending aggressively enough to capture market share.

Our Amazon PPC management team benchmarks every client against category data monthly and adjusts strategy based on where the real opportunities are — not arbitrary targets.

Amazon advertising benchmarks for 2026 are a starting point for smarter decisions, not a finish line. Know your numbers. Know your margins. Optimize from there.
